AUSTRALIAN SKILLED CLASS
General Skilled Immigration
Skilled - Independent (136)
Applicants for the 136 Skilled -Independent Visa must
meet the following basic requirements:
• must have an occupation or skill on the list
of approved occupations for skilled migration,
• Must have recent and specific work experience
• must be under 45 years old at the time of their
application,
• must have at least vocational English,
• must pass a points test.
The Skilled Independent visa is a permanent resident
visa, with the right to apply for citizenship after
2 years. You do not need to be sponsored by an employer
or any state or territory in order to obtain this visa,
however you do need to meet the above basic requirements.
The points pass mark for this particular visa is 120
and there are many other factors in addition to the
above to take into account in order to earn additional
points, such as:
• Is your occupation on the Migration Occupation
in Demand List (MODL)?
• Do you speak one of Australia's community languages?
• Do you have Capital Investment?

Australia Business Immigration
Australia's business skills migration program encourages
successful business people (business owners, investors
and senior executives) to settle permanently in Australia
and develop new or existing businesses in Australia.
There are several options designed to enable business
migration to Australia. Exactly which type of migration
is relevant relies upon your exact requirements, relevant
business experience and available investment capital.
Under the new two-stage arrangements introduced on 1
March 2003:
• successful business migrants are first granted
a Business Skills (Provisional) visa for four years,
then
• after establishing the requisite level of business
or maintaining their eligible investment, are eligible
to make an application for a Business Skills (Residence)
visa (permanent residence) - applied for in Australia

Visitor Visa for Australia
The Visitor Visa for Australia allows people wanting
to visit for tourism or other recreational activities
such as holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational
reasons, to visit relatives or friends or other short-term
non-work purposes (including short-term study).
General Australia Visitors visa
conditions are:
• You may study for a period of three months or
less, unless otherwise stated on your visa
• If you do intend to study, you must undergo
a chest x-ray
• You may not, under any circumstances, engage
in any employment activities whatsoever
• After entering Australia, you may not be entitled
to apply for any other visa while you remain in Australia
• There may be other visa conditions, depending
on the purpose of your visit
